There's nothing like the opening day of a film that Jake's been waiting so long to see. He's seen every trailer at least a dozen times and he's had his ticket for weeks.  But going to the movies can be a little tough for him.  He doesn't have any issues with sitting in the dark, but the sound can be a bit overwhelming and he fidgets in his seat. He's not able to sit still for long.  If you're the parent of a child on the spectrum, having your child sit still is a challenge.

AMC Theatres and the Autism Society have partnered together to offer Sensory Friendly Films- A unique movie  experience for individuals living with autism who want to enjoy their favorite films in a safe and comfortable environment.

AMC  understands the sensory challenges of individuals on the autism spectrum. When you're watching a Sensory Friendly Film, the sound is turned down and the lights are turned up. Children with autism are free to get up and dance, walk, shout and sing.  Their "Silence is Golden" policy is not enforced during these showings unless the safety of the audience is in question.  Because some individuals have strict, special dietary needs, families are permitted to bring their own snacks from home.

Sensory Friendly Films help families relax without worrying if someone will complain or be disturbed by noise of movement or fidgeting children. This is a great opportunity for parents to meet one another. The Children are free to get to know other kids. AMC and Autism Society help create an environment of acceptance and peace that is difficult to find anywhere else.

and don't forget to share your family fun with #AMCSensoryFriendly. We'll see you at the movies!!!!
