Superhero dad and son collaborate on comic book, raise awareness about autism

In honor of World Autism Awareness Day, TODAY’s Craig Melvin talks with New York-based comic book artist Led Bradshaw about his educational comic book series, “Jake Jetpulse,” that he created with his son Jake, who was diagnosed with autism as a 3-year-old.

Through Art Therapy, This Autistic Boy Created a Superhero

In one art therapy session, Led Bradshaw asked his autistic son Jake to draw himself as a superhero. The drawings inspired the central character and other heroes comic “Jake Jetpulse.”

Dad, son with autism collaborate on comic book series to help son better understand the world.

Apples don’t fall far from trees, especially in the case of Led and Jake Bradshaw.

Like so many fathers, Led Bradshaw has the pleasure of seeing his son take an interest in his life-long obsession: superheroes and comic books.
