RENEW, RELAX, & RESET
Being an autism parent isn't easy. On the outside, it looks as if we are the masters of multitasking. But the everyday routines of the autism parent aren't for the faint of heart. Whether you're dealing with a meltdown or two, found yourself struggling with IEP meetings, or keeping a cautious eye on your kid because your child will break away from you and run without a moment's notice., We understand what you're going through.
It's one of the things that some of us parents find difficult to talk about. Many parents express moments of loneliness, exhaustion and increased stress. It is not uncommon for autism parents to dive into periods of sadness, depression or social isolation.
As a special needs parent, I understand the need to break away for a moment and regain my composure. It may not hit me everyday, but there are times when I feel like I'm strapped into an emotional rollercoaster. If you've ever felt this way, I want to let all of you know that you are not alone. Help is on the way.
